Wolfenstein the new order skip intro11/10/2022 Luckily the game picks up from Chapter 5 onwards. The first 4 chapters certainly fitted in with a DLC type addon. I think that's why my save game dated back quite a long time. There was nothing particularly bad with the first half of the game (Chapter 1-4), it just didn't do anything particularly interesting. But, the story and characters are both weak for the most part and hindered my enjoyment of this game. The gameplay (excluding that awful first level) is definitely the highlight here. Overall, this is a decent follow up to The New Order, and worth playing if you liked that game. At least reloading checkpoints is pretty much instantaneous on PC and the long loading times from the last game are gone. Plus, the autosave only checkpoint system, which I don't like (give me manual saves) is pretty much the same as the last game. I think it's easier to pick stuff up in this game, but it's still noticeably clunky. Just like with the last game, you have to press a button to pick up health packs, armor, and ammo off the floor, but the button prompt doesn't always appear, so it's really easy to miss stuff. Fortunately, the levels get a lot better after this one, and the rest of the shooting parts are a jolly good time.Īlso, this game has some of the mechanical problems that the previous game had. It's mostly stealth-based where you have to do one specific process over and over again to take out a certain type of enemy, and it's really easy to die if you get spotted. With that said, the first level of this game is absolutely terrible. They're way more fun to use than the knives from the last game, though you can still throw knives in this game. The best addition is the pipes, which serve as both a traversal tool as well as a weapon. You still get an arsenal of weapons to use, and I really liked some of the new guns in this, such as the Bombenschuss and the Kampfpistole. However, the gameplay is similar to the previous game and it's just as fun for the most part. The first villain has a lot of depth and is actually way more interesting than the main villain, which undermines a good part of the story. I did care for the good guys and hated the bad guys, as I should, but I didn't find anyone to be interesting, aside from the first villain. Also, there are barely any characters of note here. Plus, there were quite a few times where BJ got conveniently knocked out in a dumb way just to move the plot forward, which made me roll my eyes. There is barely a story here and what little there is just isn't all that interesting. This game is worse than The New Order, but it's a pretty decent FPS on its own merits.
